Karen Magnuson to speak at Champion Hills Country Club

How are Gannettt, USA Today and local daily newspapers meeting the challenges of the 21st century's technological world?

This important topic will be discussed by Karen Magnuson, Editor and Vice President of News of The Democrat and Chronicle. Karen is one of the longest serving editors in the history of the Democrat & Chronicle.

Karen Magnuson has been nationally recognized for leadership within the journalism industry. She and Troy Turner, editor of The Daily Times in Farmington, N.M, were named winners of the eighth annual Robert G. McGruder Awards for Diversity Leadership. This was announced in October, 2009 by the Freedom Forum in partnership with the Associated Press Managing Editors (APME) and American Society of News Editors (ASNE).

The award judges are quoted on by the staff of www.EditorandPublisher.com as saying "Magnuson had made diversity a priority in both roles promoting diversity in her newsroom and community and on a national level."

She will be addressing how her industry is being impacted by technology, it should be an interesting topic. It is open to the public.
